저는 가톨릭대학교 사회복지대학원 조교수로 재직 중입니다. 제 연구 관심 분야는 사회적 고립, 중독, 삶의 질, 정신 건강, 노인을 위한 의료 서비스 제공에 중점을 두고 있습니다.

Sunghwan Cho is an assistant professor in the Department of Social Work at the Catholic University of Korea. His academic and professional careers have consistently focused on the field of aging and older adults. His research interests focus on social isolation, , ㅁadditction, quality of life, mental health and the delivery of healthcare services for older adults.

서울대학교 사회복지학과에서 학사과정을 마친 후, 1999년 서울대학교 사회복지학 박사학위를 받았다. 1999년부터 가톨릭대학교 사회복지학과 교수로 재직하고 있다. 아동복지분야를 담당하고 있으며 취약계층아동의 보호, 아동학대 보호체계, 행정데이터 분석 및 평가와 관련해 주로 연구하고 있다. 계량적 데이터분석과 질적 해석을 결합해 사회복지 현상을 심층적으로 이해하고 설명하는 연구에 관심을 가지고 있다.
담당과목은 아동복지론, 사회복지개론, 인간행동과 사회환경, 사례관리론 등이다. 아동복지론(공저), 근거이론의 구성(공역), 학교사회복지론(공저) 등을 출간했고, 한국아동복지학, 한국사회복지연구, 한국사회복지학, Asian Social Work & Policy Review, Asia Pacific Journal of Social Work & Development 등 국내외 학술지에 다수의 논문을 발표했다. 한국사회복지연구회 편집위원장과 한국아동복지학회 연구위원장을 역임하였다. 국무총리소속 아동정책조정위원회 위원(2023~2027), 대통령직속 국민통합위원회 특별위원회 위원(2023), 아동권리보장원 비상임이사(2019~2021), 여성가족부 정책자문위원회 위원(2024), 기획재정부 재정사업평가위 분과위원회 민간위원(2019~2021) 등에서 활동하였다.

I received  my Ph.D. in Social Welfare from Seoul National University in 1999. Since then, I have been working as a professor at the Catholic University of Korea. My main research area is social services for children, focusing on integrative services for the vulnerable children, child protection systems, and administrative data analysis. In addition, I am interested in research that combines quantitative data analysis and qualitative interpretation to understand social welfare phenomena in depth.
I primarily teach courses such as 'Child Welfare', 'Introduction to Social Welfare', and 'Human Behavior and Social Environment'. I have published several books including 'Child Welfare', 'Constructing Grounded Theory'(co-translator), and have published numerous articles in journals such as Korean Society of Child Welfare(KSCW), Korean Association of Social Welfare Studies(KASWS), Asian Social Work & Policy Review, and Asia Pacific Journal of Social Work & Development. I have served as chair of the editorial board of the KASWS,  and chair of the research committee of the KSCW. I also have served as a member of the Child Policy Coordinating Committee under the Prime Minister (2023-2025), the Special Committee  of the Presidential Committee of National Cohesion, and a non-executive director of the National Center for the Rights of the Child (2019-2021).

주로 노인장기요양보험제도 및 노인돌봄과 관련된 연구를 해오고 있다. 2008년도 실시된 노인장기요양보험제도 전후로 보건복지부 시범사업 및 본 제도의 등급판정도구 개발 연구에 주도적으로 참여해왔다. 최근에는 노인분야의 다양한 연구주제들, 노인과 영성, 노인과 성, 남성노인돌봄자, 요양보호에 대한 가치 및 케어매니지먼트 등에 대한 논문들을 게재해왔다. 

Main research topics are related to 'long-term care policies ' or ' care for elders'. Since 2004 the Assessment system of LTC Insurance was most topic of my papers. Recent papers covers topics including 'elders and spirituality', 'elders and sex', 'male elders caregiving', 'the value of care giving' and so on.
